Amazonia Symphonic Poem

Miguel Kertsman’s orchestral Album featuring four of his earlier symphonic works. The tone poem, “Amazonia, Symphonic Poem” written at age 21 was composed as a tribute to and an ecology awareness call about the Amazon Rainforest as a warning about its continuing misuse andunsustainable exploitation. The piece has been performed six times including an open-air concert in the heart of the Amazon Forest.Conductor Dennis Russell Davies directs the Bruckner Orchester Linz and Vienna Philharmonic Principal Flutist, the late Wolfgang Schulz performing Kertsman’s “Sinfonia Concertante for Flute and Orchestra.”

“brilliant… the full breadth of orchestral drama with a definite touch of exotica… There is a genetic relation between Maestros Villa-Lobos and Kertsman that, at least in Kertsman”s early period, brings him into the picture as a successor, an extender of a Brazilian orchestral heritage.”
