I founded Grupo Amazônica in New York City with inspiration, and encouragement from Hermeto Pascoal, my Brazilian “brother of sound.”The music I wrote for the group brought Brazilian rhythms together with jazz, fusion, progressive rock and contemporary composition.

On Common Ground, I’m at the piano, organ and vintage keyboards with Matheus Jardim (drums), Nina Feldgrill (bass), Robert Unterköfler (sax/flute) and Ricardo Ross (guitar/flute.) The album is a new recording of music we’ll also be taking on stage—and a chance to hear where these five musical personalities meet.
