Música, Mito e Mistério

At 16, Miguel Kertsman wrote all the music and most of the lyrics for his very first solo album “Música, Mito e Mistério”! The album was released in 1983 by Fermata Records in Brazil on LP / Vinyl only and is long out of print. It can occasionally be found on trade sites such as E-bay, fetching substantial bids.

The record was about “the cosmos, our planet and mankind” – yes, “Space Rock” as lots of Prog or Symphonic Rock records were meant to be… and Miguel’s lyrics about cherishing and protecting our oceans (“É No Mar”), and peoples of the world getting along (Pre-Historic Rock) remain very contemporary indeed!

The Prog / Space Rock album saw three of its songs make it to mainstream radio rotation in Brazil, and the live “Music, Myth & Mystery” show go on the road.

Stream now:

“brilliant… the full breadth of orchestral drama with a definite touch of exotica… There is a genetic relation between Maestros Villa-Lobos and Kertsman that, at least in Kertsman”s early period, brings him into the picture as a successor, an extender of a Brazilian orchestral heritage.”
